Try to discover yellow, in its many hues, in as many natural settings as you can (leaves, flowers, water hues and reflections, grasses, fruit, vegetables, the sky and horizon, and many other locations). Associate this color with the physical feelings of transition you experience in the natural environment as well as within exercises like the previous one. Associate it with a feeling of balance and ability to transition in complete harmony. Store this in your memory as a quick anchor to harmonious transition whenever you need it.

Practice transitioning. Indian summer mornings are bright, with clear blue skies, and you can feel the chill in the air. Trees are turning color. In some places they have reached their peak color. You can see a leaf spinning down in a breeze or wind, but you can still drive with the windows down. Let the coolness blow through your hair and on your skin. Seek the feeling of warmth underneath. Practice moving your thoughts from cool to warm and feeling the transition. Or from hot to warm to cool. You can do this at will. Next time you are stuck in traffic, try using your internal energy to mentally transition you to a cooler place. Take a deep, relaxing breath, and center.

Let yourself stretch out and think. Relax and center. Keep one eye on the variety of things you are still pulling together from summer initiatives. Keep the other eye on your deeper self and if and how these things can nurture who you are.

Stay up late. It's okay to stay up a little later, as you did in summer. Let yourself feel some of the chill at night. Let yourself feel the need for covers in bed. Stay sensitive to the comforting feeling of transitioning from cool/cold to warm. Remember that feeling for when you will need it in your activities. Use this stay-up time to reminisce on all you have done thus far in the year. Don't, however, belabor it. Just let yourself observe it. Center, and consider how details connect (or do not connect) to who you are at this cycle's deeper level.

Go out at night. Feel night's cool chill. Let it rebalance internal spaces in you where you feel frenzied, hurried, and disconnected. Let yourself feel that creative energy within this rich, dark, and empty space. Let the darkness loosen and relax your mind. Ingrain these feelings in your memory. Tap into this feeling throughout the day when you need to step back.

Rise early. Again, immerse yourself in the feeling of transitional energy. Center first. Then, practice smoothing your movement, passing from dark to light, coolness to warmth, and from lower energy to higher. This will help train your mind to automatically behave this way in daily routines during any season.

Use morning's coolness. Let yourself feel this energy shift, from summer's heat to late summer's early morning chill. This coolness helps center and sharpen your mind. By starting out your day in coolness, you can engender the sharp morning focus you need.
